Best Time to Post on TikTok in 2026 (Day-by-Day Guide)

September 25, 2026 · 7 min read · By Wavnil

Key takeaways

  • Sprout Social's 2026 data favors weekday afternoons: Monday 3–5 p.m., Tuesday 2–6 p.m., Wednesday 1–8 p.m., Thursday 1–5 p.m. and Friday 3–5 p.m.
  • Buffer's analysis of 7.1 million TikTok posts disagrees about weekends: Saturday is its strongest day, and evenings from 6 to 11 p.m. beat afternoons on most days.
  • Thursday at 1 p.m. is the only slot both studies recommend.
  • Follower activity in TikTok Studio shows when your own followers were active over the last 7 days: use it to settle the question for your audience.

The best time to post on TikTok in 2026 is on weekday afternoons: between 1 and 6 p.m. in your audience's local time, with Wednesday offering the longest window (1 to 8 p.m.). That's what Sprout Social found in nearly 2 billion engagements, in a study published in March 2026. Buffer's analysis of 7.1 million TikTok posts, published in September 2026, tells a different story: its strongest day is Saturday, and evenings beat afternoons.

That disagreement is more useful than confusing, because it hands you two clear hypotheses to test. Whether you post for a brand, a local business or your own creator account, below you'll find a starting slot for every day of the week and a four-week test to see which pattern your audience follows.

The only slot both studies agree on: Thursday at 1 p.m. It opens Sprout Social's Thursday window, and it's Buffer's best hour for that day.

What is the best day to post on TikTok?

It depends on which dataset you trust, and that gap is the most useful finding of all.

  • Sprout Social says weekdays. Every weekday has a peak, Wednesday has the longest one, and weekends are the weakest days. According to Sprout Social, Sunday is the worst day of the week to publish on TikTok.
  • Buffer says Saturday. In Buffer's data, Saturday is the strongest day, followed by Monday and, close behind, Sunday.

Monday is the one day that looks good in both: it's Buffer's second-best day, and it has a clear 3–5 p.m. peak for Sprout Social. For the weekend, only your own results can decide.

Best time to post on TikTok on Saturday and Sunday

The weekend is where the two studies split the most:

  • Saturday: Buffer's best slot is 5 p.m., on its strongest day of the week. Sprout Social reports no peak.
  • Sunday: Buffer's best slot is 9 a.m., one of only two morning slots in its data. Sprout Social calls Sunday the worst day to publish.

Start from what your audience does on weekends. If people follow you for leisure topics such as food, travel, sports or local events, test Saturday at 5 p.m. before ruling it out. If you mostly speak to professionals, keep your best videos for weekdays and use weekends for lighter posts.

Why Sprout Social and Buffer disagree

A single magic hour would be convenient; the gap between these two studies shows why there isn't one.

  • They measure different things. Sprout Social looks at when engagement happens across the profiles its customers manage. Buffer looks at how posts published at each hour performed. Buffer even notes that afternoons, from noon to 5 p.m., tend to see lower engagement on most days, which is largely where Sprout Social sees its peaks.
  • The samples differ. Sprout Social's figures come from its customers' profiles over three winter months, holidays included. Buffer's come from posts published through Buffer, and the study doesn't say which period they cover.
  • They're averages. A fitness creator, a software company and a pizzeria don't share the same audience routines.

So read the table as slots to test, not appointments to keep.

How to find your own best time to post on TikTok

Your analytics settle the question for your audience. Here's a four-week plan:

  1. See when your followers are active. In the TikTok app, open TikTok Studio from the menu on your profile, go to Analytics, then the Followers tab. Follower activity shows the days and hours your followers were most active over the last 7 days. Check which time zone the chart uses before you copy the hours into your calendar.
  2. Choose three contrasting slots: one from each study and the one they share. For example, Wednesday at 3 p.m. (Sprout Social), Saturday at 5 p.m. (Buffer) and Thursday at 1 p.m. (both).
  3. Post comparable videos in each slot for three to four weeks: similar length, format and topic, so that the hour is the only real difference.
  4. Compare videos at the same age. Some videos keep picking up views after others have stopped, so compare views, watch time and engagement at a fixed age, for example 48 hours after posting.
  5. Keep the winning slots and retest every quarter, or whenever your audience or your content changes.

Schedule your TikToks for the best slots

Knowing that Saturday at 5 p.m. works is one thing; being ready to post at 5 p.m. every Saturday is another. You have two options:

  • TikTok's built-in scheduler. On the web version of TikTok, you can schedule a video from 15 minutes to 10 days in advance (TikTok for Business).
  • A scheduling tool, useful if you plan further ahead or also post on other networks. In Wavnil you set posting time slots for each account once (for example Thursday at 1 p.m. and Saturday at 5 p.m.), and each new video lands in the next free slot. For every TikTok you choose who can view it, whether to allow comments, duets and stitches, and whether to publish directly or send the video to your TikTok inbox as a draft, which is handy when you want to finish editing in the app. Photo posts can be scheduled too.

Before you schedule, check the TikTok video length limits and the caption character limits, and give your bio a distinctive look with our TikTok font generator. Posting the same video on Instagram? The best hours aren't the same there: see the best time to post on Instagram.

Where to start this week

Post your next three videos on Wednesday at 3 p.m., Thursday at 1 p.m. and Saturday at 5 p.m. in your audience's time zone, then let Follower activity and a few weeks of results pick the winner. Want those slots filled for you? Try Wavnil free for 7 days.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best time to post on TikTok today?

On a weekday, aim for the afternoon in your audience's local time: Sprout Social's 2026 data shows peaks on Monday 3–5 p.m., Tuesday 2–6 p.m., Wednesday 1–8 p.m., Thursday 1–5 p.m. and Friday 3–5 p.m. On a weekend, Buffer's data points to Saturday at 5 p.m. and Sunday at 9 a.m.

What is the best day to post on TikTok?

The two largest recent studies disagree. Sprout Social, with nearly 2 billion engagements, says weekdays perform best and Sunday is the worst day. Buffer, with 7.1 million posts, ranks Saturday first, then Monday, closely followed by Sunday. Test one weekday slot against one Saturday slot to see which pattern your audience follows.

Is it better to post on TikTok in the morning or at night?

Usually not in the morning. All of Sprout Social's peaks fall between 1 and 8 p.m., and Buffer found that evenings from 6 to 11 p.m. outperform afternoons on most days. Buffer's only morning slots are Tuesday at 6 a.m. and Sunday at 9 a.m., so treat mornings as a test rather than your main schedule.

Does posting time matter on TikTok?

Less than on a feed sorted by date, but it still helps. TikTok names viewers' interactions, video information such as captions, sounds and hashtags, and device and account settings among the factors behind For You recommendations. Posting while your followers are active simply gets a new video its first views and reactions sooner.
